The building of new housing in Oldham could help boost demand for affordable house insurance.
The Oldham Advertiser reports that the local council is to have access to £160 million to help tackle housing shortages in the area. This means a whole bundle of new homeowners will be looking for cheap cover to insure against any damage or loss.
A £90 million bid for money to revamp properties at Primrose Bank in Coppice, Clarkwell in Coldhurst, and Crossley estate in Chadderton, has already been approved alongside plans for £70 million to be spent on a housing project in Derker and Werneth.
“We are delighted…this money will help to bring homes in Oldham up to the decent homes standard," said Alan Caddick, housing strategy manager.
"It will provide more appropriate housing, new homes that will meet the needs of the borough and complement our Housing Market Renewal (HMR) programme."
