New figures reveal good news for the mortgage industry as the number of loans for homes increased in May.
The Bank of England figures also state overall mortgage lending grew by more than the six-month average.
"The Bank of England figures point to a stabilisation in the market following a modest recovery in activity since the lows of last winter," said Milan Khatri, an economist with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
While a flourishing market is good news for anyone thinking of moving house, customers are advised to factor buildings insurance into the cost of purchasing a new home.
